What is bitcoin?

Hi everyone, welcome to my very first blog post.

Many of you may be interested in the crypto-currencies esp. when it generated a whole lot of interest recently. And I bet you have questions such as: what is this Bitcoin? How can I purchase it? Where can it be stored? etc. Well, this blog and the subsequent ebook addresses all your questions.

To answer your 1st question:

Bitcoin is basically a store of value, medium of exchange and asset all in one and whats more its powered by a technology called the blockchain. What then is a blockchain. Its a decentralised cryptographic public ledger that allows for peer-to-peer transactions over an online network.

Since its decentralised, it means that the need for a middle man to conduct the financial transaction is elimniated. This leads to cheaper transactions and faster transaction times. Which is good for you and your wallet in the long run.
